Crushed
Ever feel the weight of the world has you "stuck?" or "crushed?" Ever realize the "weight of the world" is actually just your brother sitting on top of you? Not included in the picture was the bouncing! But that's how it feels sometimes as well!
We sang yesterday at church two songs that really speak of the peace God has for us. The first was "It is Well." The second verse especially gets me: "Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come Let this blest assurance control That Christ (yes, He has) has regarded my helpless estate And has shed His own blood for my soul."
It is God's grace that provides the peace in the midst of the crushing. He sees the need and intercedes. Trials will come and Satan will buffet! God provides the peace.
The second song was "Promises." The chorus really spoke to me where it said, "Though the storms may come and the winds may blow I'll remain steadfast And let my heart learn, when You speak a word It will come to pass Great is Your faithfulness to me Great is Your faithfulness to me From the rising sun to the setting same I will praise Your name Great is Your faithfulness to me."
May God continue to provide the peace as we trust his faithfulness through the crushing storms of life. May we remember the truth from 2 Corinthians 4:7-9, "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."
To God be all the glory for the peace, strength, grace, and wisdom he provides.
