Words matter
Now, words sometimes get us in trouble. There are many words we would love to take back . . . but can't. Words often bring comfort. And words can even make us laugh until we pee our pants. Sometimes word are confusing. But regardless of the emotion elicited, words matter.
All this to say how I was VERY intrigued when the Aldis freeze pops chose to use the phrase "A quiescently frozen confection."
At first, I thought it said quintessential, referring to it representing "the highest quality or standard." But no...it said quiescent, which means "still or inactive." So . . . are they compelling us to enjoy an inactive sugary treat?? Or reminding us not to run with Popsicles in our mouths??
Mark Twain said, "The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.” As Christians, the need for the right words is super important as well--and though God says he will provide the words we need, (Luke 12:11-12) we still need to be listening and actually say the words God provides. Proverbs 25:11 says, "The right word spoken at the right time is as beautiful as gold apples in a silver bowl."
God's words are more valuable than all the golden apples and silver bowls because they can bring life, hope, joy, and peace. May our words be valuable today.
