Throwback Thursday on a Friday
Worms. As I randomly scrolled back to find a picture for today, I came across this gem.
Parks with a little park for his worms.
You have to look close, but there are a couple worms all tangled up within the pieces of mulch and sticks. I cannot remember if he had made a pen for them or if those items were there for their entertainment . . . like a balance beam, the hurdles, or whatnot. Kids DO have imaginations! Makes me chuckle thinking about my children coaching and training for the worm Olympics!
What I do remember was how excited he was to have them and how sad he was to have to set them free again. We had to explain to him though how the worms were created to live free in the dirt - not penned up (despite how fun!) on the front porch steps.
We, too, are made to be free. Created for freedom and yet so often we stay (or want to stay) penned up where we were NOT created to be. Genesis 4:7 reminds us that "sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” Remember also Romans 6:22-23, "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
May we live free in God's holiness today!
