Some folks went apple-ing today and had some delicious adventures!
So grateful for adventures of Oren and Larks, even when I couldn't be there! Apples were always come with a glimpse from the past...memories of Dad sitting on a chair or the couch with a bag of apples, a container for the peels/core, and a sharp knife. He would sling those apple chunks across the room as we watched the "newest" Wonderful World of Disney movie as a family.
So guess what I do now?
The same thing--sometimes even with the same movies that were being shown so many years ago. "The Apple Dumpling Gang." "Snowball Express." "The Shaggy DA." "The Strongest Man in the World." "Gus." I love that our memories can be triggered so--pulling us back to those moments. And I wish I would have been able to treasure the moments better while they were happening.
As Andy Bernard so eloquently said, "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them."
Praising God for fond memories and the opportunities to make them with our own kids. May we faithful invest--and seize the precious moments while they're here.
